Cedar Strip Canoes
Cedar strip canoes are beautiful and responsive open canoes.
They combine the specific strengths of the design chosen with the strength and visual magnificence of sculpted wood.
Each hull is built using multiple thin timber strips, glued and then sheathed in fibreglass cloth. This timber hull is then finished with gunnels, seats and decks.

The Cygnet 14' Solo For the solo canoeist this is the ideal boat. Its overall design combines the various elements of length, rocker and hull cross-section to produce a compact responsive boat ideal for solo use. Paddled solo it has ample room for gear and for paddler mobility allowing for response to changing conditions to optimise the boat's performance. As a double it functions just as well needing only light correction to maintain good forward tracking. This beautifully proportioned boat is fitted with both bow and stern seats with its wide mid section providing ample space for the gear needed for extended day trips. The hull is constructed from cedar strips with the gunnels, seats, decks and buoyancy chambers in solid timber. Depending on preference, seats may be either high quality whitewood, specialist hardwood or woven webbing. The boat comes with tender lines. Storage ports can be added in the buoyancy chambers if desired.
