Cedar and Canvas

The Boats in the section are built in the traditional method using a solid form with metal bands over which cedar ribs are bent.  The ribs are then sheathed in cedar planks, gunnels and decks fitted and the entire boat sheathed in either traditional canvas, filler and paint or in fibreglass.  A fibreglass exterior can either be left with the beautiful timber planks exposed or painted for a more traditional look.

 

16' Cedar and Canvas

This canoe is designed to be an all-rounder.  It is fitted out as a tandem canoe but handles well as a solo. 

Designed with a slight rocker, a moderate hull curvature and low fore and aft profiles it handles well across a range of conditions.  It has excellent manoeuvrability, holds a good line and has ample space for gear.

The hull is naturally buoyant and therefore has no fitted buoyancy leaving the fore and aft open to view in the traditional style.  Depending on preference, seats may be either solid wood, cane or woven webbing.

The boat features a number of special details including brass rubbing bands and French oak carry handles

The boat comes with tender lines lines.

14' Cedar and Canvas

This canoe is designed to be responsive solo boat.  It is fitted out as a tandem and will carry two but is most suitable for one.  The two seats provide good sitting positions for adjusting trim

Designed with a slight rocker, a moderate hull curvature and low fore and aft profiles it handles well across a range of conditions.  It has excellent manoeuvrability, holds a good line and has ample space for gear.

Variations

It is possible to build variations on this boat if required.

  This may require the construction of a complete new form and therefore can be more expensive.
